Direct attach cables & active optical cables
Direct Attach Cables (DACs) and Active Optical Cables (AOCs) are preassembled cabling solutions with integrated transceivers on both ends for simple plug-and-play functionality.
Direct Attach (DAC)
Copper-based and short-range DACs connect top-of-rack switches and servers. Passive DACs are shorter and power-free while active DACs are longer and use low power to boost signals.
Active Optical (AOC)
AOCs use light over fibre, ensuring Electromagnetic interference (EMI) resistance and stable long-distance performance (up to 100m). They require more power for optical-electrical conversion.
